In 2021, NVISION launched The Kevin Doherty Scholarship to Support Digital Creativity in honour of Kevin Doherty — NVISION employee #1, our long-time Creative Director, and our friend. We were deeply saddened by Kevin’s passing last December after his brave battle against cancer. We all miss his passion, his mentorship, his creativity, his humour, his bloody caesars, and so much more. It makes it so important that we continue to honour Kevin’s legacy by once again offering the scholarship.
Today, NVISION is excited to announce that Cody Garcia has been awarded the 2022 Kevin Doherty Scholarship to Support Digital Creativity. Garcia expressed, “I am deeply honoured to have been chosen as this year’s recipient of the Kevin Doherty Scholarship. As a young designer, I will continue to challenge myself to always learn and absorb everything in my path to shape my identity and abilities to become a better designer. I want to thank the NVISION team for giving students such as myself the opportunity to receive this scholarship and for seeing my potential by choosing to support my journey as a creative.”
NVISION CEO George Arabian said, “We are thrilled to award the Kevin Doherty Scholarship to Cody Garcia. Kevin was a huge part of NVISION’s growth and creative direction, and I know he would have been proud of Cody and excited to see him grow as a designer. This scholarship is one small way we keep Kevin’s memory alive and support the next generation of creatives.”
The Kevin Doherty Scholarship is awarded annually to a student pursuing digital creativity who demonstrates design as problem-solving — a philosophy that defines Kevin Doherty’s approach. The $1,500 scholarship can be used towards tuition, books or other educational expenses.
