How User Experience Could be Affecting Ranking

An interesting video published on January 27, 2014, by Google Webmaster Help on YouTube.  Matt Cutts, the head of Google’s Webspam team makes numerous references on User Experience suggesting we should “take a fresh look at your layout, are you still providing the best user experience”. This would imply one thing to me, that user engagement metrics have a clear implication on ranking factor.

He doesn’t necessarily come out and say that User Experience will improve your ranking, however, he does explicitly suggest providing a fantastic user experience will grow and eclipse those who’ve stayed stale.

Some food for thought, what do you think he’s implying?
