The Kevin Doherty Scholarship to Support Digital Creativity

Kevin Doherty was a true visionary in the world of design and creativity. For nearly two decades, Kevin graced every project with a touch of beauty, infusing beautiful aesthetics with functional solutions. Design was always a passion of Kevin’s, perceiving the world full of colour, shapes, sounds, and timeless beauty. Driven by creativity and design, along with a passion for exploration and knowledge, Kevin ventured into the realm of development. It was then that Kevin was able to seamlessly blend design with development principles, adding life to each of his creations.

As the second employee at NVISION, Kevin was an integral part of the company’s growth and development for over 15 years. He led a team of imaginative minds, preaching the philosophy that design is not limited to aesthetics, but encompasses the art of problem-solving. To Kevin, design was the very solution to any problem at hand.

Kevin thrived on the creative process and eagerly welcomed new challenges. Kevin’s work was award-winning and recognized on an international level. He was the go-to person when debating the best design tools, as his expertise and skills were unparalleled. Kevin will always be recognized for his unwavering ability to forge design with development, bringing touches of beauty into any project.

The Kevin Doherty Scholarship for Digital Creativity is awarded annually to recognize one student who has shown outstanding dedication to the digital arts or marketing disciplines.

Scholarship Description

NVISION is thrilled to offer a unique opportunity to one exceptionally talented student. The $1,500 Kevin Doherty Scholarship is awarded annually to a graduating high school student or a current college/university student pursuing an education in graphic/communication design. All students applying must be enrolled at a Canadian institution.

These may include but are not limited to digital illustration, web design, graphic design, user experience, copywriting, marketing, and communications. Kevin always supported emerging talent, and NVISION is excited to continue his legacy by giving back to our student community.

Submission Details

Deadline: June 30, 2023

Once you have submitted your application, you will receive a confirmation email. We require all of the following materials before you can successfully submit your application:

Personal Statement: In 500 words or less, please tell us why you would be the ideal candidate for this scholarship
High school transcript or current college/university transcript
A letter of recommendation from an educator/instructor/employer/coach
Three portfolio samples in high-resolution PDF format, with the name of the instructor for each project

Only applicants who are graduating high school or currently enrolled at a Canadian college/university will be considered.
